In the Anthropology Summary, Grant states that "...the vast majority of bone fragments show evidence of burning." While this may be the case for some such as shown in Section 3, it seems that most of the fragments are light in color and do not appear to be burned.

Section 1 raises some questions in my mind since these appear to be either a matched set or nearly identical bone fragments. Yet one piece is light and the other is dark or burned. How is it possible that two similar bone fragments could look so different after going through a major fire?
